Boot Code
Boot code allows you to designate a Fibre Channel drive as the boot device. Linux supports three types
of boot code: x86 BootBIOS for x86 systems, OpenBoot for PowerPC systems and EFIBoot for Intel
Itanium IA64 systems.
Load Boot Code Using HBAnyware
Prerequisites
• The Emulex driver for Linux is installed properly.
• HBAnyware has been installed properly.
• The boot code file (x86 BootBIOS, OpenBoot or EFIBoot) has been downloaded from the
Emulex Web site and extracted to a directory on your local hard drive.
Procedure
To load boot code using HBAnyware:
1. Start HBAnyware: su to root and run the following script:
/usr/sbin/hbanyware/hbanyware
2. In the property tabs (right pane), select the Firmware tab. If the current version of boot code is
displayed in the Boot BIOS Message field, you do not need to load boot code – skip to step 6.
Otherwise, continue with step 3.
